Megadeth est un groupe de thrash metal et de heavy metal traditionnel américain formé en 1983, en Californie par Dave Mustaine. Ils sont reconnus comme l’un des quatre groupes de thrash metal les plus influents (The Big Four of Thrash) avec Metallica, Anthrax, et Slayer. Le groupe se dissout en 2002 à cause d’une blessure nerveuse sévère au bras gauche de Mustaine, mais après beaucoup de rééducation pour ce dernier, le groupe a pu se reformer en 2004.
On estime aujourd’hui que le groupe a vendu plus de 25 millions d’albums à travers le monde.
Actuellement, le groupe est composé de Dave Mustaine à la guitare et au chant, Chris Broderick à la guitare, James Lomenzo à la basse, et Shawn Drover à la batterie.
