Multiform producer, influenced by the techno of Strait as by the pop one, Matthew Dear belongs to the figureheads of l’ electro American. Since noticed Leave Luck to Heaven in 2003, Matthew Dear multiplies the projects. Between its albums, projects under d’ others combined, and the remix for Hot Chip or Charlotte Gainsbourg, Matthew Dear exhausts time. Black City leaves in 2010 and reveals a news face d’ an insatiable experimenter. Born in Texas, Matthew Dear is impassioned very early for the sound techno come from Strait (Michigan). It creates its own label, called Ghostly International, and leaves in 1999 its first simple “Hands Up For Detroit”. Leave Luck to Heaven is amply greeted at its exit in 2003. Matthew Dear is placed then very quickly among the type-setters and producers at the point of the American electro sound. C’ is under its proper name which Backstroke (2004) and Asa Breed (2007) leave. In 2010, Matthew Dear reveals a face of pop experimental for Black City that David Bowie and Brian Eno n’ would certainly not have repudiated.
