It has been almost 2 and a half years since I made my top 321 electronic tracks blog, and after I got a comment on it recently I decided to update it. Also trimmed it down from 321 to 200 and put a maximum amount of 3 tracks per artist, which was difficult at times! Vangelis gets 4 though because he is awesome. The end.
Also it's pretty heavy on the D&B / Dubstep, so if you aren't into that this may not be for you!

1 Radiohead - OK Computer
Using the textured soundscapes of The Bends as a launching pad, Radiohead delivered another startlingly accomplished set of modern guitar rock with OK Computer. The anthemic guitar heroics present on Pablo Honey and even The Bends are nowhere to be heard here. Radiohead have stripped away many of the obvious elements of guitar rock, creating music that is subtle and textured yet still has the feeling of rock & roll. Even at its most adventurous -- such as the complex, multi-segmented "Paranoid Android" -- the band is tight, melodic, and muscular, and Thom Yorke's voice effortlessly shifts from a sweet falsetto to vicious snarls. It's a thoroughly astonishing demonstration of musical virtuosity and becomes even more impressive with repeated listens, which reveal subtleties like electronica rhythms, eerie keyboards, odd time signatures, and complex syncopations. …

I don't know how it has come to be that I have never recommended Massive Attack in this series of journals before. One of my favourite bands. I was bent double in driving winds, wrapped up against falling snow that felt sharp on my face, slipping on icy pavements as I walked out of my way, thanks to roadworks, to catch my bus to buy Heligoland on the day of release - because the next day via Amazon wasn't good enough and I don't do downloads when it matters.
And now they've released this EP that's covered in glitter. And all the proceeds go to War Child.
