When I listen to 'Something to Remember', 'Rain' is just a beautiful love ballad and the title rain is simply a love metaphor, about longing for it. But on 'Erotica' it gets somehow more obvious, especially along with 'Where Life Begins'.

"Honestly, she needs Shep Pettibone back in her life." [3] Honestly, she needs all the producers she worked with in the 80s and 90s back in her life. [2]

Madonna has a series of serious, slow recordings with plenty of "space" in the 1990s. They're all perfectly mixed without clipping, unlike modern music, and sounded impressive on FM radio. The album "Something to Remember " includes most of them. Her last good song was The Power of Goodbye. That is a fitting title. Subjectively, I think other Pop artists of the decade shared the same qualities.

I'm going to reiterate machine80's comment: "That scale at 2:47-2:52 is a thing of wonder :-)" Gives me chills each time and sounds incredible on headphones.

niqart: I agree totally. I think it would be pretty awesome if she performed some golden older tracks like this in pretty much the original form, not in some trashy dance remix, and focus on her singing. not that I have much faith it will happen..

Now it became underrated. One of the first songs she MUST perform in next tour. Rain from S&S tour can`t be considerated as a song - that number was as an unknown instrumental shit.

Probably her best vocal ever. The instrumentation is so smooth and calming and then it sort of explodes in the middle only to wind back down again at the end, just like a storm.
