BIOGRAPHIE
Leur histoire débute en 2001 lorsque s’achève la vie de plusieurs groupes. Tout d’abord After effect où l’on retrouvait Gara (chant) et Nero (batterie), ensuite Shiver avec Yu et Tetsu d’ACID. Kenichi lui vient de quitter Syndrome (l’ancien groupe de Kisaki) en juin. Ainsi, ils se retrouvent tous pour fonder Merry un groupe au logo de mouton énervé.
Dès le mois d’octobre, ils frappent très fort en offrant lors des concerts un MD contenant deux titres. Mais quels titres ! Avec Rojiura Elegy et Binibon nichoume yachiyokan, ils posent tout de suite les bases de leur style. Ce sera punk, jazzy et mélodieux. A l’époque, peu de groupes s’intéressent à ce genre. Il faudra attendre Baroque avec leur Tokyo Strippers pour voir d’autres musiciens suivrent le mouvement mais notre quintet avait déjà vu le vent venir.
Il faudra pourtant attendre le 28 janvier 2002 pour un premier concert officiel et février pour la sortie d’un premier maxi single : Haikarasan ga tooru. On retrouve le titre Rojiura Elegy, mais aussi les très fameuses Tic Tac et Violet Harenchi. A l’automne sortent deux maxi singles : Koseiha Blend ~Tasogare-hen~ et Koseiha Blend ~Junjou Jounetsu-hen~.
Merry se détachent de part leur musique, mais aussi leur look. Sobrement vêtus, ils optent pour des costumes noirs et des chemises blanches. Le maquillage est, quant à lui, très léger et un peu à la MUCC.

The band will return with a concert on August 10, where special live-limited CD "Mado -replay-" will be released. Also, 2 new DVDs coming on July 31, titled "MERRY VERY BEST 20121130 赤坂BLITZ ～Special 2night" ("shiroi hitsuji" and "kuroi hitsuji" versions).

i used to be really into merry when i was younger, but kinda lost touch with them as i got older (and i havent heard any of their releases past m.e.r.r.y) no real reason for losing interest in them, i just did, but i can always turn on those old albums i got and fall in love all over again, peep show and nu chemical rhetoric especially, and gara's voice always tugs at my heart strings...merry will forever be special to me even if i dont listen to them like i used to and havent kept up to date with them. ill always remember listening to them and how they inspired me during that time in my life. (if you couldn't tell, im listening to them now and thats why im getting all lame and sentimental. ha!)

It's normal to compare older albums to newer albums, you moron. I love everything they've ever done, and I disagree on the "they're not Merryish anymore" thing as well, because I do get much of the same feeling from new Merry as from the older stuff. But if other doesn't get that feel they're free to say so and state their opinion, even though their opinion on Merry obviously suck.

excuse me but can people just please stop saying they're not merry-ish anymore~ this is stupid >> they where MERRY they are MERRY AND THEY WILL BE forever MERRY okay~ no merry-ish anymore is just impossible and stupid, it is normal that a Band is developing. it is so annoying if people say they are not MERRY anymore or doesn't sound merry-ish! and stop comparing 'old' MERRY to 'New' MERRY or comparing older Albums to new ones. you can't compare any of their Albums everyone is special for themself.

I like the new single a bit better than Gunjou but that's not a tough thing to achieve. Not really feelin' it at all. Some nice parts here and there but feels soulless and not really Merry-ish (the production/sound has a big part in that too I guess).

The PV is stunning. B-sides are loud and punky. 梟 is by Tetsu, 罪 by Yuu and 密 is Nero's. Mixing and mastering by Tue Madsen. Love it.
