FREEHAZE Although Drop You Vivid Colours (2005) is definitely a milestone for Japanese shoegazing, I feel like their debut album, Vivid Short Trip (1996), has been unfairly underrated. As far as dream pop/shoegazing goes, it is a very convincing debut album that, being grounded in the sounds of A.R. Kane, Cocteau Twins, and friends while maintaining a very exotic flavor, sounds nothing like the rest of their output. Tracks like Summer Brushes the View, Snow Leopard, Gertrude, and December Sail are true dream pop gems.
