the saddest song in the world, @secret_nick, the saddest song in the world. things just flower up & die and people are cold and unforgiven enough to walk on. who are they kidding? they're just as hurt.

"nice and relaxing"? not for me. this is maybe the saddest lucinda song. relationships that go sour, especially between friends. how can you forgive yourself? i love people finding this song "nice and relaxing", because they certainly didn't mess up with people they love.

No wonder I can relate to this beautiful queen of punk americana ( in a sense), she's an aquarius, here b'day just three days from mine. Well, I just found that out, so it sounded good. Haven't heard this track until now, but she can't really go wrong, she's a friggin genius this woman, love her til I cry, which happens often with her songs....

If I had the choice of one Lucinda Williams track to take with me to a desert island this would be it. "Just to sit and talk/ Like we used to do/ near breaks my heart/ That I can't get through to you... And if we should meet/ Somewhere down the road/ Would you stop and be sweet? Or would you just walk on....? Lucinda's lyrics of heart break and her melancholy voice are never better than on this track. The whole album - Essence - is great as is "Car Wheels On A Gravel Road." I like all of the earlier albums too. When I first heard this, I thought that she would take over the world...this, to me, was the pinnacle and so unfortunately it was not to be....but others may disagree.
