Mmm... I think that I could agree with you, though I know, these topics are slightly complex. And the fact that my english not allows me to discuss about some complicated details without feeling limited to express myself, so I just limit myself to enjoying of the music and the beauty it has and to sharing these simplicities :)

Nooo, not what's gothic, but what's gothic metal :-D Here's what I think of "gothic," and I'd really like to embrace the broadest possible definition opf gothic metal as well, rather than limit it to bands like Tristania, early Theatre of Tragedy/Sirenia, Trail of Tears, The Sins of Thy Beloved, etc. :-P

MDB is gothic in the sense that Aaron bases much of the lyrics on literature like Poe, which is very gothic indeed. And gothic as musical style to me is dark and atmospheric. Their music most certainly is." I dislike calling music gothic in the same sense I dislike calling books horror or drama, they are so strange genres... Something can be both gothic and symphonic, it's just a matter of atmosphere.

Temptation is their most gm-sounding song... the thing with gothic metal is it's so narrowly defined by true fans that I can't even figure out exactly what it means. :-P There's a similar problem with the application of symphonic metal too, actually, if you read the recent activity in the tag's shoutbox....
