My co-host Jim and I welcomed one of our favourite listeners, Ollie, into the NTT studio to reminisce about his most memorable jazz/improvised music concerts he attended in 2007. We played live music by Vandermark 5; Scorch Trio; Bindu; ICP Orchestra and John McLaughlin & Fourth Dimension.
You can get the show here: NTT March 13 08
NOW'S THE TIME airs Thursday nights from 8:30 - 10:00 (20:30-22:00, GMT -5)on CKCU-FM 93.1 in the Ottawa region and at CKCU-FM everywhere else.
This week IMC member Mark Othmer profiles guitarist Kenny Burrell and will feature Burrell's classic Blue Note record Midnight Blue.

Kero One - Windmills of the Soul

Eclecticity
12 mai 2007, 11h05m par mreys
Take your top 20 artists. For each of these artists, collect the top 5 similar artists. The resulting number of unique artists is your eclectic score. If the score is small (extreme = 5) your musical preferences are very limited, and if it is large (larger than 80, extreme = 100), then you have an eclectic musical preference. You can compute your own score at http://anthony.liekens.net/pub/scripts/last.fm/eclectic.php
My eclectic score is currently
82/100

Look what I got in the mail!

Woohoo, my incredibly cheap 11 CD Box: "blue note: Perfect Takes" just arrived, and it's great! For some reason one of the large newspapers in the netherlands is selling it (url) for €55 including shipping, but I doubt that includes international shipping, or even that they do ship outside the country...
One note of warning: Some of the CDs include some sort of bogus copy protection, (which they *don't* tell you on the site) to prevent you from listening to the music you pay for where and how you want. It looks like my Linux just ignores it, fortunately, but I haven't listened to all my oggs yet, so maybe some of them end up fnuxored. Anyway, the copy protection warning label on the cd-boxes says windows and mac only, so ironically you may not be able to use them how you like on those systems...
Anyway on to the meat: what's on those cds?
One is actually a collection of tracks from the other 10, as far as I can tell, so not all that special, although it includes a dvd too which I have yet to check out.
