Judas Priest est un groupe épique du heavy metal britannique, fondé en 1969 à Birmingham par K.K. Downing et Ian Hill (respectivement guitariste et bassiste du groupe). Considéré comme un des premiers groupes de heavy metal et source d’inspiration d’innombrables formations metal depuis des années, Judas Priest aura su marquer les esprits par des albums tous plus poussés, osés et bien menés les uns que les autres. Groupe composé de deux guitaristes solistes (comme Iron Maiden à ses débuts), un line-up relativement solide dont seul le poste de batteur aura vu un nombre important de changements. Beaucoup de fans reconnaissent Judas Priest comme étant à l’origine du style « Biker » (cuir et clous) et l’initiateur n’est autre que Rob Halford (surnommé Metal God par les fans au passage), le chanteur du groupe de 1973 à 1991 puis de 2003 à nos jours.

From that point on it has been Judas Priest vs. Iron Maiden. I still remember reading the old Rip and Cream magazines with the headlines "Who's better, Priest or Maiden." Now, because of it ,there is always a comparison. Look how many Priest fans do not care for Maiden and vice versa. My first two Priest concerts were Priest and Maiden. I've liked them both ever since. (this is almost speed metal,and predicted the sound of the nwobhm movement,without the punk influence) nwobhm started with Saxon´s debut in 1979,and wtf,Sad wings of course is exactly metal...

They have always played metal. Even Rocka Rolla (the first) is an early metal album. Down-tuned, heavy and fuzzy. But the really Heavy Metal came first on Sad Wings. The Ripper, Tyrant and Victim of Changes are metal classics!
