John Legend, né John Stephens le 28 décembre 1978 à Springfield (Ohio), est un compositeur, pianiste et chanteur américain de rhythm and blues.
Son premier album, Get Lifted, est sorti dans les bacs en automne 2004, sous le label GOOD Music. On peut y retrouver des collaborations avec le talentueux rappeur et producteur Kanye West sur « Number One », Snoop Dogg pour « I Can Change ».
Ses premiers simples classés dans les charts ont été « Used To Love U » et « Ordinary People ».
John Legend a également contribué à la chanson « Selfish » des Slum Village, « Everything is Everything » de Lauryn Hill et a participé aux chœurs sur « Encore » de Jay-Z, »You Don’t Know My Name » d’Alicia Keys et « High Road » de Fort Minor.
John Legend domine les mises en nomination avec huit mentions en vue du 48ème gala des Grammy Awards qui aura lieu en février prochain, à l’instar de Kanye West et de Mariah Carey.
En 2006, il apparait dans le documentaire musical de Michel Gondry: Dave Chappelle’s Block Party.
Selon certaines informations John Legend pourrait participer au prochain album de Michael Jackson prévu pour fin 2007. Ils auraient ainsi discuter lors des Mtv Music Awards du Japon en 2006.
Son album Once Again est sorti le 24 octobre 2006.
