En 2004, John Frusciante fait équipe avec son ami et collaborateur Josh Klinghoffer pour créer A Sphere in the Heart Of Silence.
Cet album contient sept pistes et se distingue par sa touche électronique et synthétique, domaine auquel John s’était essayé auparavant.
Josh a collaboré avec John sur plusieurs de ses albums solo, y jouant, notamment, de la batterie ou du synthé.
En 2009, Josh rejoint les Red Hot Chili Peppers juste après que John Frusciante annonce son départ du groupe.
