I see melting snow and early spring on the cover. In a sad way.

Only a shattered soul could make such a brilliant mix of despair, sorrow, sadness and beauty... Sometimes I just hate listening this album because of all the memories and hard feelings bouncing inmy head... But ironically, I just can't stop listening the whole thing... as I share almost the same fucked-up tormented thoughts, kind of a emotional see-saw. For me, this is one of the most emotional albums ever created, like a direct slap in the face looking for a wake up from catharsis... dark but with a strong inner message of hope for those crawling in their own shit

From the man himself. "A lot of the music is autobiographical: that first Jesu album was made after I’d just come out of a 13-year relationship, badly, and I just seemed to learn a lot of bad things about people. So [the self-titled album] was born from a lot of loss and bad feeling and it was the only way of sort of transcending the state I was in. ... But I think the first Jesu album kind of stands alone in that respect. Each record since has been a different examination of the same emotion, but not as completely at a loss as that record."

I find this bleak and melancholic in the most uplifting way possible.

So I just noticed on my copy, Japanese import bought sealed from ebay, each CD is stamped with sampler. Would that be pre-production or do all the Japan imports have that?

Bolshevized, I'd disagree, I'd say this isn't really depressing - at times, maybe, but it's a more transcendant, and rather uplifting/hopeful experience. At least to me.

More sad bastard music from Mr. Broadrick. Probably his most demanding listen, but it's worth it.

According to the Godflesh site, Jesu site, and discogs, this came out in December 2004. Not 2005. Also, sweet album. \m/
