    I'm not against emotion or feeling passionately for God -- (John Piper is my favorite Christian author, and I completely agree with him about what he says about being joyful in God and being passionate for Him). What I'm against is the use of anything, including music, to try to achieve some sort of altered state of consciousness, in order to have a supernatural experience. Worship is not an altered state of consciousness!! To use good music like Jeremy Riddle's in this way, is, in my opinion, a total perversion of what worship is. Worship should never be about trying to achieve a certain state or experience, but rather, it should be focused on God.

    Like the Psalms worship music conveys truth (hopefully)... as well as emotion. If it does one but not the other something crucial is missing. Jeremy Riddle incorporates both extremely well, weaving biblical truth in an artistic and moving way. I look forward to more of my favorite worship music... Jeremy is truly anointed for this task...

    My comments - The original description of Jeremy Riddle is, I believe, flawed. My exact issue with the description has to do with the designation of "soaking music." I personally do not practice or believe in using music to empty a person's thoughts. I think this practice is very dangerous. No where (that I am aware of) does Jeremy Riddle classify his music as soaking. No where (that I am aware of) does he endorse this practice. Some people may use his music for their soaking prayer, but it was never meant to be used in this way. It was not written with the purpose of doing this. Just as the Bible can be taken out of context and used in ways that it was not intended to be used, so can music by a particular Christian artist. please see the following link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soaking_Music
