The sound might be closer to power pop, but there's still a lot of the same grungy sort of emotion on this album, even if not as much as on LTT. I mean, the song "Celebrity Skin" sounds pop-ish and maybe even happy - but if you actually listen to the lyrics, it's really dark.

Boys on the Radio is nothing short of their best track ever. I can't help but loving the maturity, lyrical sincerity and emotional rawness of this album. Courtney and the band itself were inspired as hell here.

I'll admit that I USED to not like this album that much. I thought it was way too pop (I've always been a fan of Hole's rougher days— Pretty on the Inside particularly, as well as the moderately aggressive Live Through This), but after doing lots of listening, it's definitely proven itself to me. Pop rock or not, Courtney bared her soul as she always has, and the songs are extremely emotional and really beautiful. It has an overall finesse that Hole's other albums don't, so it's great for a certain type of mood/setting. Hole's music never gets old to me because it has such range.
