Fri 25 Mar – Sonata Arctica, Labyrinth, Triosphere

(Just a heads up: I went to the gig the night before, reviewed here. So this review is more a catalogue of the things that were different. If you want a review of the actual gig itself, you're better off reading the one from the night before in Reading.

Plus, this was written for lj, so it's more a story of my gig experience than an objective review. Oh yeah, and in case you don't know, Henkka = Henrik and Make = Marko. For me that seems obvious but apparently some fans don't know them by these nicknames.)

So by now you may have already read my review for the Thursday gig in Reading, and you're hanging on the edge of that cliff just waiting to see what happened next! XD Well, you'll be pleased/saddened/ambivalent (delete as applicable) to hear that this review for the Friday gig in London is going to be muuuuuch shorter. The reason? Well, besides getting there later and leaving earlier…

Thu 24 Mar – Sonata Arctica

(Just a heads up: this was written for lj, so it's more a story of my gig experience than an objective review. And it's fucking long. Oh yeah, and in case you don't know, Henkka = Henrik and Make = Marko. For me that seems obvious but apparently some fans don't know them by these nicknames.)

VITTU PERKELEEN HELVETTIIN SAATANA JUMALAUTA KRISTUS!!!
THAT WAS THE SINGLE BEST GIG EXPERIENCE OF MY ENTIRE LIFE!!
AND THEN I GOT TO HAVE IT ALL OVER AGAIN THE SECOND DAY!! :'DD

That's this review in a nutshell, really. But come on, you guys want more than that, right? ;D

The day was 24th March 2011. The time was 8am. I leapt out of bed with much more vigour than I usually do. I felt immense pride at the single spoonful of cornflakes that I managed to consume. I read my friend's wishes for an amazing day, rang my sister to make sure she had everything she needed, and then I headed off into a misty morning to walk into town…

Thu 3 Dec – Sonata Arctica, Delain, Winterborn

(This'll be long. Don't read if you don't have any patience :P)

    Things that sucked:
    > Fucking music snobs >__>
    > Constant fear of being crushed + almost dying of heat exhaustion xD

    Things that rocked:
    > EVERY-FUCKING-THING ELSE :DDDD

Context: This was my first Sonata Arctica gig. I've been a fan of them for the last two and a bit years, really fell in love with them when I bought Unia earlier this year and by the time they released The Days of Grays, they'd grown to become my favourite band.

So you can guess I was just a *little bit* excited ;D

First things first: queueing. And I am a fucking genius at this. Earlier this year I recommended Sonata to my cousin Sureya, who subsequently fell in love with them. And it just so happened that Sureya got there three hours early - an hour and a half before me, I think - and thus got us spaces ridiculously close to the front of the queue \:D/

I think that counts as being a master of forward planning ;D
