In a couple of months, I have moved from 1000 to 10000 tracks. Like last time, I'm gonna go over my top charts :).
10. Klaus Badelt
Klaus Badelt has dropped from 7th to 10th position since my last journal entry. I am still quite a fan of The Time Machine and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, and I have added Poseidon to my little collection, which is nice.
Top track by Klaus Badelt: The Medallion Calls
Hidden Gem: none
9. James Newton Howard
James Newton Howard wasn't even in my top 10 last time, he has gained quite a bit on my list. All of that is thanks to two albums: The Village and Lady In The Water. I just love listening to Lady in the Water's Prologue followed by The Great Eatlon. Pure Magic I tells ya. Strangely enough it seems to be rather unknown or even disliked.
Top Track by James Newton Howard: The Great Eatlon (my nr. 1 currently)
Hidden Gem: Lady In The Water
8. Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard
10 jui. 2006, 21h54m par ExcelleI've been listening to a fair few of my film soundtracks recently. Film soundtracks are quite unique as far as music goes, it's almost back to the days of classical concertos and the like. It's worth noting that I'm talking about film scores here, not the cobbled together compilation albums that proliferate around Hollywood output. I quite often put soundtracks on in the background while I write or play games, but I sometimes like to just sit back and enjoy them.
Here are some of my favourites...
Mixing the old and the new superbly, Michael Andrews creates an eerie mix of synth and piano that reflects the overall oddness of one of my favourite films. Favourite tracks would be Carpathian Ridge and The Artifact & Living.
The Lost World: Jurassic Park
One of the first film scores I ever bought, for a knockdown price in an Our Price sale! I only bought it for the main Jurassic Park theme (aired as a finale on this album), but the rest of the album is excellent…
