Biographie

The debut album of Godflesh, Streetcleaner, was released 25 years ago today. To pay homage, out now is a free download / limited cd tribute compilation: <link>

Honestly, I was expecting the new album to be something like a little bit heavier version of Jesu and ending up sounding quite meh. But what we got was nothing more than GODFLESH in its purest form. Expectations met and surpassed quite pleasantly!

The new album is incredible imo, much much better than I had ever imagined it would be. I remember first hearing Streetcleaner around 1990 and having my mind implode. For them to come back out of nowhere and release a full-length as crushing and powerful as their earliest and best material after all these years is astonishing.

Are you serious? I mean ppl who are complaining about the newest album "World Lit Only By Fire"... At first (when the album was announced and so on...) I was a little bit sceptical, too but HEY!!! That album is AWESOME! All the haters... pls... go fuck yourself. Anyway, I really want to see Godflesh LIVE, so I hope maybe one day they will be playing somewhere near of my location. I HOPE FOR... It has to be a total massacre... Godflesh live at the stage!!!

What "is" and "is not" their best material is all subjective anyways...and as we all know..."haters gonna hate".

тягучие риффы, нечеловечный вокал, долба драм-машины.... как же я скучал по всему этому.

I don't get the haters. But I guess most of the times no one does. "A World Lit Only By Fire" may not be their best thing ever, but it's a solid album, delivering that familiar raw heaviness with which they got us addicted to throughout the years. It's a worthy addition to their discography, in my opinion, and a loud statement that they're not gone and forgotten, and definitely not musically dead. The latest album is one of this year's highlights and a very welcome return of the mighty Godflesh.

Two fags below me listen to neutral milk hotel and metal. I think they have no room to talk.

As much promise as the EP showed, the new LP gets progressively more boring with every listen.

It was surprisingly disappointing (for me) to learn that Broadrick likes modern commercial hip-hop.
