On second thought, "All in a Mouse's Night" is better than I remembered it. "Your Own Special Way" is still pretty forgettable though.

The last great Genesis album. The later albums still have moments of greatness, but only moments. I can do without "Your Own Special Way" and "All in a Mouse's Night" though.

It's not quite a masterpiece like the preceding six albums, but it's still excellent and a fine swan song for the classic era. It's the last Genesis album worth listening to.

A weak album (upon revisiting it). The way Banks' meandering keys smother each track is incredibly annoying, and Collins' hammy vocals don't help. The album needed a major influx of Hackett's guitar/ balls/ life (who was right to jump ship here). Not surprising they'd go full-on schmaltz with And then... after this one.

Near-masterpiece. And as far as I'm concerned, this is Genesis' swan song.

What the heck? This is awful! It's pretty much just an unlistenable synthfest!

When I saw the Seconds Out tour and Phil did his acrobatic tambourine jam, I got sold on I Know What I Like. That was fun. I like the idea of the song lyrics too-- a guy who is happy and successful doing what he does, though none of his betters think so. I didn't care for More Fool Me on Selling England simply because it was Phil, and not PG on vocals. My opinion, but Phil just sounds like imitation Gabriel-- without the range and expression and hint of darkness. Phil does pop music well, does drums like a god. I was never especially offended by Own Special Way. I was surprised to see the venom towards it here. Oh well, I love DEVO, so there ya go!

Great album, with the exception of Your Own Special Way. What a horrible song. [2]
