Voila un groupe étonnant. D’abord de par leur nom, tiré d’une célèbre soupe froide espagnole, ensuite de par leur histoire. C’est un groupe norvégien de rock progressif, longtemps sans label et non professionnel, qui sort en 3 ans, 3 albums. Bravo en 2003, When Earth Lets Go en 2004, et en 2005 Firebird. Ils utilisent beaucoup le web pour se faire connaître et finissent par y arriver puisqu’on les retrouve à ouvrir pour Marillion sur la tournée Marbles, et qu’ils sortent chez Intact Records, aujourd hui, leur 4eme opus Night, un concept album de 53mn en 5 parties.
Nouvel album en mars 2009 : Tick Tock, basé sur le roman Terre de Hommes d’Antoine de Saint Exupéry : bruits des pas dans le désert et solitude entouré seulement du vent et du sable.
Le groupe est composé de :
Jan Henrik Ohme - chant
Thomas Andersen - Piano, claviers
Jon-Arne Vilbo - guitares
Robert Risberget Johansen - batterie, Percussion
on trouve aussi le bassiste Kristian Olav Torp, le violoniste et producteur du groupe Mikael Kromer ainsi que Line Bekkelund et Nina Mortvedt aux backing vocals.
En invités, n’oublions pas le sieur Steve Rothery lui-même, guitariste de Marillion, qui officie sur certains morceaux.
et parfois Kristian Skedsmo - Accordion, Flute, Mandolin, Didgeridoo
La musique de Gazpacho possède un fond rock progressif tout comme un certain Radiohead. Le chant lancinant rappelle souvent cette référence. On pense aussi à Pineapple Thief, sans doute à cause du côté mélancolique, mais également à Muse.

Speaking of Massive Illusion, I usually DESPISE clapping in music, but here it's actually beautiful. Musical orgasm every time I hear it. I have multiple musical orgasms through the entire 'Night' album, anyway, though. Haven't been able to check out Tick Tock yet.

Thanks to Highhopes4ever for introducing me to them (hi!). I bought "Night". It's amazing . Great atmosphere, idea and music. Albums you can dream to and lose yourself in are the greatest imo. This a great example.
