  • Gallows share the love at Hastings on Valentine's

    15 fév. 2010, 20h28m par gravitypoint

Sun 14 Feb – Gallows +Guests @ The Crypt, Hastings.
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i69/pointofgravity/frankreviewimg.jpgA lovely so-cold-your-feet-might-as-well-be-frozen day meets with a punk rock filled night in a little venue called The Crypt no less than a minute away from Hastings train station. It's no wonder why fans are eager to get into the hidden door as they shiver and line up outside, a constant drivel of "oh my god it's cold" and "aaah I'm cold" and the occasional "the insides of my testicles are frozen" escape from the mouths of hardcore kids, emo kids, punker kids, punker dads, whatever, you'd be surprised the security guards hadn't told em to shut up. Nevertheless, the night turned out to be too hot rather than too cold at the end. partially because you couldn't take a pint out of the "over 18" zone and partially the warm up to the infamous Gallows had already heated the venue up to a sunny tropical temperature. …

  • Tuesday Twenty: My top 100 tracks 2000-09 Pt.02: 80 to 61

    22 sept. 2009, 17h47m par amodelofcontrol

Further to last week, it's time to move onto the next stage of my rundown of the last decade.

    Last week: My top 100 tracks 2000-09 Pt.01: 100 to 81

    80
    Girls Against Boys
    Basstation
You Can't Fight What You Can't See
    2002

The only album one of my favourite bands released in this decade, and it was a minor return to a form for a band who had been through such a bad few years previously. Following the somewhat distastrous flirtation with a major label, and a producer that simply didn't work (while some of it was great, I'd love to know who thought that GVSB would make a great industrial-rock band), they retreated, regrouped and came back with an album that followed along the perhaps more logical path from career high-water mark House of GVSB. Which meant a two-bass-player led groovy rock attack, with Scott McCloud drawling his words of wisdom over the top. Opener Basstation - also the single, of course - was a great example of this, in other words what GVSB do best. …

  • Gallows, ETID, tGOAT, SLV @ The London HMV Forum.

    24 mai 2009, 22h24m par gravitypoint

Thu 21 May – Gallows, Every Time I Die, The Ghost of a Thousand, Sounds Like Violence

I've never been to the Forum in London, the closest one I've been to is the one in Tunbridge Wells where they hold gigs for local bands.

But anyway, Onwards. Even though I could only get seating tickets, wow, what an amazing gig. Three of my Favourite bands in one night, but I was let down by a few factors:
-It was a shit venue. Well, I'm sure it wasn't for people standing downstairs, but upstairs we had cocks telling us to sit down every five minutes and don't record on our phones, We could only go out for a fag between ETID and Gallows, There was a QUEUE to go outside and have a fag, and you couldn't buy merch if you were an upstairs ticket. To the London HMV Forum Staff and it's Manager: You're all pricks.
-I bought a camera the day before the gig JUST SO I COULD REVIEW THIS GIG. They gave me one with a faulty battery. A faulty Rechargeable Li-Ion battery. …

  • BBC Lancashire Introducing with Sean Mcginty… 28th August 2008

    27 sept. 2008, 20h14m par seanintroducing

    On the show...

Maupa stop by the BBC open centre to talk about their latest activities. The band - who take their name from the Polish word for 'monkey' - also discuss their involvement on Jamie Holman's course at Blackburn Media College. Jamie, head of the college's media department, is also in the studio tonight to give us info about the college record label On Song records and the opportunities they provide to aspiring musicians.

Terry from 10 X Better music is another man with experience and huge insight into the music industry. He joins the discussion and puts forward his thoughts, especially with regard to band promotion and plugging. All in all, there's a lot of good advice for fledgling musical talents to listen to tonight.

We play a package of Leeds and Reading live tracks from the BBC Introducing stage including The Maybes?, The Joy Formidable, We Are Scientists, Attack! Attack!, Biffy Clyro and Tripwires.

  • 2007 / Top 51+ / Reviews

    26 déc. 2007, 17h46m par Vader13

This took forever to be finished. I was never really pleased with the list and quite possibly I won't be with this one tomorrow ;P
    Don't complain about language problems.
But please comment, this took a lot of time to be done.

    Anyways, start the show

    Best EP:
    Anime Fire
Where The Wolves Fear To Tread
Stumbled over them by coincidence, but loved them right away. Can't wait for an album.

    UNRANKABLE:
    Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters Colon The Soundtrack

Soundtracks never show up in my lists, but this needs to be mentioned. Most of the songs lyrics refer to the show or the movie, witch makes it even more funnier; f.e. Cut You Up With A Linoleum Knife:
    "Don't talk, watch!
    Don't talk, watch!
    You came here. Watch it.
    Don't like it? Walk out.
We still have all your ****ing money.

Do not nudge, kick or jiggle the seat in front of you.
    I'm sitting there!
    I am everywhere at once
and I will cut you up.

  • Tuesday Ten: The best albums of 2007

    11 déc. 2007, 15h29m par amodelofcontrol

Part three of my round-up of the year, and this week it is my albums of the year. Despite my reservations recently that there hadn't been an awful lot to recommend for 2007, it turns out that there are actually quite a lot. So before I get to the top ten, it's time for...

Five Highly Recommended albums of 2007 that didn't quite make the top ten:

    October File
Holy Armour From The Jaws Of God
    Candlelight
A very unusual band for Candlelight to sign - they are nothing related to black metal, for a start - but this is an interesting band nonetheless. Difficult to describe what they sound like without mentioning the name Killing Joke, as they really do sound like them (and to make the connection even clearer, Jaz Coleman appears on one of the tracks), but the whole album is infused with an anger about the world around them: including an unusually strong environmental and political sensability.
Key tracks: High Octane Climate Changer, Hallowed By Thy Army, Religion?

    Gallows
    Orchestra of Wolves

  • Tuesday Ten: Tracks of the Month (September)

    2 oct. 2007, 13h27m par amodelofcontrol

Another month - so it's time again for my tracks of the month.

    Gallows
In the Belly of a Shark
    Orchestra of Wolves
    Warner
I think my girlfriend is going to be wholeheartedly sick of this band soon enough, if she isn't already - I simply can't get enough of this. It is so nice to hear some proper hardcore, wrought with furious emotions - i.e. something other than the whiney navel-gazing of emo. This is the first track I heard, where I realised that the hype for once was actually justified. Being in the belly of a shark in this case certainly seems to be a metaphor for some relationship issues, I think, but either way the song itself is fantastic. Of note especially is the fantastic chugging breakdown that closes it. Anyway: I want to see this lot live.

    Apocalyptica
    Helden
    Worlds Collide
    Sony
Only the one cover on the new Apocalyptica album, and this is it. Till and Richard from Rammstein join in for a german-language cover of David Bowie's Heroes. It really, really shouldn't work, but it so does.
