Here’s a guest mix by Ben Daniels from the Philadelphia based dream pop outfit A Sunny Day In Glasgow. The band has a new album coming out October 19th. Autumn, Again will be available as a free download and limited maroon 12″ vinyl.
The mix kicks off with Jonathan Richman and The B-52′s, suggesting a collection of feel good hits, but then it moves into a slightly dreamier direction culminating with Janelle Monáe and Janet Jackson. It certainly makes for a great background to a sunny autumn day.

I've been listening to a lot of cover songs recently. It's actually very interesting to compare the different versions.

Ain’t She Sweet: I first heard this song on a 60s compilation CD – one of those cheap compilations that can’t afford the well-known Beatle songs. Of course, I really liked it. Then I heard it from my recently acquired Frank Sinatra. Turns out it was originally written by Milton Ager and Jack Yellen in 1927! The Beatles actually have two versions: the Tony Sheridan version sounds very much early 60’s, while the Lennon version is more clearly Beatles. Sinatra, of course, only has some vague idea of when he’s supposed to be singing, but it’s still swinging!

I’ve Got a Feeling: Another relatively unknown song by The Beatles. In one of the last Beck episodes, Yukio goes onstage and starts singing this song while the rest of the band is breaking up. I immediately thought, “Wow, this sounds so Beatle-like,” but was surprised to learn that it actually is one of their songs. They again have

I've only thought of two songs for 'Unintentionally Dirty': Girl Don't Come - "So you wait, you wait and wait/Girl don't come) and Mornin' Glory - "Good mornin' mornin' glory...Good mornin' where'd you spend the night/Where did your night dreams take you"

Lemon Incest - the only one that intends to make you uncomfortable, and I suspect a parody of such duets.

Something Stupid - nicknamed 'The Incest Song'.

Ne dis rien - originally performed by Serge Gainsbourg and Anna Karina and covered here by Serge's last girlfriend Bambou, and their son Lulu. Lyrically, it doesn't have to be a romantic interpretation, but both sing it very sensually.
