listening to linchpin though it is, though simple, quite groovy...again, like edgecrusher, it's let down by rubbish verses...ace riffs and choruses though

Demanufacture > all...SoaNM was an excellent start but being the heaviest doesn't make it the best... The verses in edgecrusher sounded almost hip hoppy to me, though I know not as much as back the fuck up...It really does sound out of place though, come to think of it I am probably being a bit harsh on obsolete as that is the only duff track on it, whereas Digimortal in comparison is more patchy (even within a song - the chorus parts of linchpin are ace but the rest is awful)

Edgecrusher was co-written with someone else not from this band, that would explain alot why the sound of it is diffirent. Also it got influenced by the gerne " hardcore punk" if you ask me. The only hip-hop-ish song (which is actually called crossover) is Back The Fuck Up.

(obviously it's not really hip hop but it's clearly the approach Burton took with his vocals on it...glad they don't have Christian to influence them in that way anymore as I know he's a big hip hop fan)

Obsolete has plenty of great songs, Shock is a great opener, I have always loved Freedom of Fire, the title track, Resurrection and the mellow track at the end are great too, Edgecrusher is rubbish though, stupid crap hip hop (and I have heard some decent industrial hip hop) with Christian dicking around on a double bass...

yeah...I do really like Moment of Impact, too bad the rest of the album just wasn't in the same vein and lacked the heaviness and rage...should have been a Burton C Bell side project like City of Fire and Ascension of the Watchers

Every album is great, except Transgression of course. I bet when Dino heard that album, he wouldve been laughing his moobs off.

I don't know, for me the tracks on Obsolete sound too similar to each other, especially in the guitar department. The only track that really stands out to me is "Shock". "Edgecrusher" I liked when I was in high school, but when I listen to it now it sounds like an early preview of what was to come on Digimortal, if you catch my drift.

I wish Obsolete were more...perfect...has the potential to be as there are plenty of great tracks on there, but odd ones like Edgedrusher don't do anything for me...first two albums are flawless though, and Mechanize is the best they have done since Demanufacture I think, high hopes for the next album...

Mechanize is awesome, no doubt but I did miss Herrera on it, Gene is amazing but Herrera was part of the "old" FF sound. and that is what i missed on Mechanize.

as for transgression, as has always been the case with the exception of Dog Day Sunrise, the covers are atrocious and pointless, I did like it at first but I think the only track I still like on it is Moment of Impact...

I agree about Mechanize - I especially like Christploitation too. I really couldn't give a toss about Christian, he wasn't in the original lineup even though he sees himself as a 'founder of fear factory, and even on demanufacture he did hardly anything (though must admit he did contribute quite a bit to possibly the best track on it, pisschrist)...as for Raymond, shame in a way, but I think Gene is a far better drummer...I really doubt you have to be that skilled a drummer to sound like a machine by using triggers

Matt DeVries from Chimaira is now Fear Factory's bassist. Rumors are that Gene didn't drum on The Industrialist too? Has anyone heard about that? http://legacy.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=169697

I love Mechanize. "Industrial Discipline" and "Powershifter" are my favorites. Although I feel bad about the raw deal that Christian and Raymond got dealt, I have to say that Gene Hoglan and Dino are a perfect match. It's almost as if the Demanufacture lineup were playing together on that album.

As much as i love FF i must say that Transgression was really their weakest album, there were some cool moments but that's all.All other FF albums are awesome imo (my personal favorites are Demanufacture,Archetype and Obsolete)
