I had my doubts when we shelled-out four bucks apiece to see this person in late '68 (possibly early '69) ... Large , funky glasses and a suit sans tye ... Played nothing but old Ray Charles material - and had Everybody up and dancing after < five minutes . Man , what an incipient musical genius !

Pure genius! Supremely talented - the Elton John/Bernie Taupin writing combo has to be one of the best in the business. Elton is phenomenal live. Turn this up every time I hear it.

The most spectacular, breathtaking and thrilling intro I have heard in my life. Experiencing it at the concert in Warszawa was an unforgettable moment.

Excellent song. Doesn't get the airplay that it deserves. In Richmond VA there's a local band "English Channel" that actually plays this on occasion.

For everyone who identified Sir Elton as a singles pop artist, LoveLiesBleeding shows the world he can really rock!! His all-time best, IMO

The synthesizer part was played by Dave Hentschel, a producer and engineer who learned how to program the Moog Synthesizer, which was fairly new at the time. He went on to work with Ringo Starr and Phil Collins.
