15 oct. 2011, 0h00m par jukkakhanWhenever I get that dreadful feeling that my life is going nowhere, the first thing I turn to is Octavarium. Although it it does nothing to remedy the situation at hand, it gives me that tiny bit of reassurance that I'm not the only one who has felt trapped, and that as long as I continue to press on, I will find my way out. More importantly, it gives me some much needed time to distance myself from my thoughts and give them time to settle. Over the course of its 20+ minutes, the song progresses though five sections, each of them with their own distinct sound and feel, almost as if they were plucked from entirely different songs. But when taken as a whole, they bonds between them begin to strengthen and come together as the different parts of a long journey. As you progress through the different terrains, there are different messages to learn from the words around you. All of them valuable in their own right, but ultimately they share a common theme that builds the message of the entire album: the Full Circle. …

The time I’ve seen Dream Theater’s Moscow gig again, was about sustainable uncertainty of the first impression about Black Clouds & Silver Linings. It took me about two weeks to recheck the record and realize it’s as great most of recent releases. It may be ambiguous, but the instrumental mixes from 3rd CD helped me understand this record a lot. So continuously switching from instrumental to vocal mixes made feel I’m in.
Since Dream Theater has been established long before the progressive metal, which I’m big admirer of, they have lots of old-sounding records. So for me Dream Theater acceptance threshold concurs with addition of Jordan Rudess with some exceptions when LaBrie doesn’t squeal like antique power metal star and songs don’t sound like classic rock or progressive rock. Fortunately, the other genre influences are established in vocal verse/chorus parts and the breaks, buildups and other times when James hangs back stage…

22 août 2010, 8h15m par jukkakhanMusic is my passion, even if my number scrobbles doesn't quite reflect that. They can express feelings and ideas in so many more ways then words can do alone. Sometimes they can convey exactly what you're thinking without you even realizing it. Other times then can lift your spirits from depths you thought were inescapable. Although I value each and every one of my 9,990 other scrobbles very much, I wanted to do something special as I reached the big 10k. So I crafted a playlist of 10 songs that were very special to me. Not just songs that I liked the way they sounded, but songs that were close to me, that meant something to me, that defined me. In theory it was an easy task, but I quickly found that it was very very difficult. The end result was a 2 hour 20 minute playlist (I'm a sucker for those giant epics) full of music that (I hope) represents me.

The following Blogs will be translated too!
Everybody defines his own music different, like me!
My favourite music genre is the Progressive Metal/Rock! Its always nice to listen to Dream Theater or/and Neal Morse. But the greatest thing is that you can listen to new parts of their songs which listens to you new though you have heard the song a million times!
An other thing is that the Progressive Metal/Rock genre is similar with the Classic genre. Just take the song Octavarium from Dream Theater's 8th album Octavarium: it start very slow and quiet and gets faster and louder and so on - just like a synphony!
Some people think its depressing if a song plays longer than 6 min or just the Progressive Metal/Rock, but i like that. Because you can leave the reality and forget everything that is arround you, even the song too. At normal Pop songs you have to listen to them to get to know the meaning of the lyrics or the whole song!
