Doyle Bramhall (born 17 February 1949, Dallas, Texas[1]) is an American singer-songwriter and drummer, closely associated with the Music of Austin. He is often confused with his son, Doyle Bramhall II (who is also a singer, songwriter, and a guitarist).
As a boy Bramhall would jam in the family garage with local children, including the future ZZ Top guitarist and bass player, Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill.
Bramhall joined The Chessmen with Jimmie Vaughan as a high schooler; the group opened for Jimi Hendrix when he played in Dallas. In 1970 he moved to Austin and formed Texas Storm with Vaughan. Later in the 1970s, Bramhall formed The Nightcrawlers, which included Jimmie Vaughan’s brother Stevie Ray Vaughan on guitar. Bramhall co-wrote the tune « Dirty Pool », which appeared on Vaughan’s debut album, Texas Flood.[1] He would go on to write or co-write several further songs for Vaughan such as « Life By The Drop » in SRV’s The Sky Is Crying album, and played drums on the Vaughan Brothers album Family Style.
Bramhall released his debut solo record in 1994, which included appearances from the Vaughan’s and his own son. He also collaborated with Jennifer Warnes in the 1990s. In the 2000s, he signed with Yep Roc Records and has released two albums on that record label. Bramhall’s latest album Is It News was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2008 in the genre of best contemporary blues album.

It really is amazing that the bio mentions people often confuse him with his son Doyls Bramhall II but they screw up by having links to his son's videos instead of his own!! There are sooo many of these errors on LastFM that it ruins a potentially great site and why I like the stats but not the site.
