I'm really into the guilty pleasure music this week. I think Domino's Don't Stop Da Music!!! (and guys, you should know it really pains me to type that) was the first offender, and that one I can blame on aramatheydidnt@LJ, but 소원을 말해봐 (Genie) and subsequently Criminal are all on Asian Pop Addict. Of course, I guess in determining relative levels of shame involved, you also have to figure in how I acquired them: the latter two were easy downloads, but DOMINO's single does not seem to exist on the internet despite having debuted ten days ago, and after a day or so of fruitless searching I broke down and ripped it from the music video myself. I won't tell you how much I've played it. It's nothing astoundingly good--the lyrics are, in fact, rather wretchedly inane--and like most girlpop it took a couple listens to grow on me, but it's upbeat and summery and the chorus is catchy. ユラユラ揺られて！

Meisa's a little weird in that I'd actually tried her PVs before (let's be honest: she's hot) and been basically unmoved…

Saturday night I checked out Lily Allen at the Troubadour. I remembered to take my digital camera since security is lax there :)

Domino was the opening band. Domino Kirke is originally from London so she has a sexy voice, Jordan Galland plays the guitar, David Muller on bass and last Sam Koppelman on drums. I hadn't heard them before since I hate myspace and they play mostly in New York. They were pretty good and gave away free EPs and T-Shirts after their very short set. I can't wait until they have a real website and change their name to Domino Kirke or something else since the name is already taken.

You should check them out on sucky myspace. They have some videos and mp3s. They have a pop rock sound and maybe in another year or 2 they will blow up.

A DJ, whose names escapes me was the filler before Domino and Lily Allen. He also spinned after but it wasn't that impressive since it wasn't original nor new top 40.

Finally, Lily Allen came on stage around 10pm boasting how she's now 21 so she can drink. …
