A friend and percussionist gave me the nod to listen to D.I.G. back in the early 90's, stating it was " -the- best Australian acid jazz band, hands down. " Almost a score of years later and it's still sitting comfortably in my top three bands. Deeper got me interested and I fell in love with Speakeasy straight away; they were never far from the top of my CD pile. Then, years later, I was absolutely amazed (and delighted!) with the release of Curvystrasse. This album was a new direction for the band, utilising synthesisers, mixers and editors to give their music a Trip-Hop/Electronica-Chillout feel while still sticking to their Acid Jazz roots. They've managed to create some of the most technically-sound and ecelctic music I've heard over the last 20 years and I can only hope that they release another album in the near future.

One of Australia's best. Voted for 'Deeper' in the ABC's top 100 albums of all time a couple of years back. I first heard them when I was walking past a record store in Geelong. It's the only time where I've immediately turned around, walked in, and said "Whatever that is you're playing, I'll buy it"

Brilliant band, and one of Australia's great drummers. Terepai's talents are wasted behind The Whitlams!

Saw these guys at The Great Northern in Byron Bay, Australia in 1996. A fella I knew at the time was mates with Rick the saxophonist so we got a sweet deal on the door. Frickin' awesome night. @ rosenkranctz: highly underrated, I agree.

WHY IS THERE A VOTE ON WHAT THIS BAND IS CALLED? IT CLEARLY SAYS ON THE ALBUM COVERS WHAT THIER NAME IS: DIRECTIONS IN GROOVE ABBREVIATED AS D.I.G. MMMMM AND WHATS WITH THE VALID ARTIST THING?

Amazing music. I've been trying to work out Pythonicity for guitar, but it's taking ages. If anyone has the music notation for it please share it - sounds like it would be really fun to play! Sweet song.
