Rick Savage (basse) et Pete Willis (guitare) forment en 1977 le groupe hard rock Def Leppard à Sheffield en Angleterre. Le chanteur Joe Elliot, le guitariste Steve Clark et un batteur les rejoignent. Ils enregistrent en 1978 un mini album Getcha Rocks Off qui passe sur la radio britannique BBC. Le batteur Rick Allen arrive et, en 1980, Def Leppard sort son premier album On Through The Night. S’en suit une tournée en Angleterre et aux Etats-Unis. L’album High n’ Dry les fait véritablement connaître aux Etats-Unis en 1981 avec le single Bringin’ On The Heartbreak. Pendant l’enregistrement, Pete Willis est viré à cause de ses problèmes avec l’alcool et Phil Cohen le remplace. L’album suivant Pyromania (1983) se vend à plus de dix millions d’exemplaires. Au sommet de sa gloire, le batteur Rick Allen perd son bras gauche dans un accident de voiture. C’est avec un kit personnalisé qu’il enregistre le quatrième album Hysteria plus pop qui sort en 1987. La popularité de Def Leppard est énorme. Steve Clark meurt d’une overdose d’alcool et de drogues au début des années 90. Le quatuor enregistre Adrenalize en 1992 avec le single Let’s Get Rocked. Il engage par la suite le guitariste Vivian Campbell, ex Whitesnake. Le sixième album de Def Leppard Slang sort en 1996 dans l’indifférence générale. Le groupe revient au pop métal avec Euphoria (1999) et Yeah.
Le nouvel album « Songs from the sparkle lounge » 2008 est un retour aux sources qui ont fait le succès de ce groupe légendaire.

I would like to see one song, at least one song with Pete in the credits that is playable. Guess I'll just have to breakout the old "High 'n Dry " cassette, and hey, Roadhouse rocks, 2 former Leppard musicians were in that band ( Roadhouse). Get some real "Roadhouse" ( not a facsimile ) and put it under similar artists for Def Leppard. Peace and stay alive. I miss Steve, saw him live in '87 and saw Viv live with Whitesnake in, '87 too, I think. I was at a guitar workshop with Viv and Adrian Vandenberg the day before the WS show. Ok, so people want the NWOBHM years ! Bring them on. Perhaps Def Leppard could have a reunion, if Yes can do it then why not Def Leppard ? Get Mutt & Pete on the Phone ! Crow Edge Studios, Sheffield......

Yeah, they're quite underrated here. One hit wonder? They have 4 supreme albums. And "Pour Some Sugar on Me" is not even their best song.
