  • The Victim's Shudder, "Terror Romance"

    9 mai 2008, 16h57m par obsequious

I discovered The Victim's Shudder browsing around bands on Myspace. It can be a real task digging through music this way, but with the right amount of effort comes a few brilliant treasures. In this case, "Terror Romance" turned out to be exactly the type of music I am into. It is a solid recording in most ways, with classical and elements tying it all together. Soft and ghostly vocals weave in and out of the recording. The mood of the music is very dark, but not smothering. In fact, there is a ghostly other-wordliness about the whole album. It is forlorn, yearning and quiet. It is engaging, but definitely works as gentle and unobtrusive background music. Recommended if you like work by artists like Tor Lundvall, Dark Muse or much of the stuff on Cold Meat Industry.

  • DARK-AMBIENT-RADIO vol.1 compilation (CD)

    DARK-AMBIENT-RADIO vol.1 compilation (CD)

Low frequencies, deep atmospheres, layers of darkness. All this decorated with slow, wicked melodies. Music not usually coming from your radio, more likely coming from the abyss scorching inside a sick mind. But there is this place - Dark Ambient Radio. A place which provides with a shelter not only those who enjoy drowning their senses in dark soundscapes and atmospheres but also the ones who dare to create them.

And not only it gives a shelter to the dark ambient producers who lurk in this online community. It also gave them the chance to present their work to the world. So thirteen artists united, composed eleven tracks and created 70 minutes pure, dark ambient madness. In the first (and hopefully not last) volume of Dark Ambient Radio Compilation you'll be able to hear tracks by established artists such as Ah Cama-Sotz, Svartsinn, Dark Muse, Phelios and Stephen Parsick but you will also have the chance to discover the works of younger projects such as Nihil Communication…

  • Songs that sleeps the beast..

    24 sept. 2007, 22h20m par UnaGoblin

Well, today im just ranting and raving about the few tracks I currently have on my playlis, first up is Dark Muse, lovely dark ambient with extremly moody atmosphere, exellent for those moments when you just feel like a raging animal that needs its chains replaced.. Secondly its Forest Silence, same good old album Winter Circle is still my most played cd, no wonder since its among the most beautiful you get to listen to in this world.. Thirdly ive gotten real tag up about Type O Negative and the new cd, at first I dint find it that special but it grows on you, and now ive been pumping it alot while studying and ranting.. If youve missed it you should check out the video that Dark Muse uploaded on her last.fm, endless and moody is the least I can say, almost as good as the mindbreaking Clean Cathedral by In Slaughter Natives!
  • Thoughts on my Weekly Top Artists: 11 Mar 07 - 18 Mar 07

    1 Tara Vanflower - 18 plays
    2 Within Temptation - 11 plays
    3 Lycia - 6 plays
    4 Dark Muse - 6 plays
    5 Not Applicable - 3 plays
    6 Evanescence - 2 plays
    7 Falling You - 2 plays
    8 Blutengel - 2 plays
    9 Poe - 1 play
    10 Fluffy - 1 play

So it wasn't exactly a very busy week for me musically, at least what got scrobbled. I listened to quite a bit more on my Zune, but can't seem to scrobble that. Most of what I listened to in that last week on the Zune was Lycia and Dark Muse, so at least it got representation here.

    1. Tara Vanflower - My appreciation for Tara as an artist just keeps growing as I listen to her style grow and evolve. Her style, from Lycia in the 90's through solo work in the new century is outstanding, and I'm especially enjoying delving into the intricacies of her latest work. A new released song on Tara's MySpace page, The Soil Is Dead, is simply amazing and I've been listening to it quite a lot lately.

  • Blasted Christmas...

    22 déc. 2006, 10h35m par UnaGoblin

Sitting in my sad silent home listening to Zargof and just glares at some insane pictograms ive recieved from my friends when I suddenly realised I should try and random a artist from the whole of my dire collection of mp3s and write a blog about just that song... And the winner was...
Dark Muse with the Song Luna Flow, not so strange perhaps but I was hoping for it to be something more bizzare...
Dark Muse in all its glory, I just wish I had time to have A Very Scary Solstice....
  • A-Z, my library's favorites

    21 sept. 2006, 19h29m par jkwood

A: Adam Sandler - Kind of a guilty pleasure. I can't help myself, I think it's hilarious to listen to this man curse.

B: Basque - Very chill mellow music for relaxing. Honorable mention goes to Bjork, a very close second for the B spot.

    C: Collide - Female-fronted industrial/electronic. It's sooo good.

D: The Doors - Great music, great lyrics, great movie. Second choice would be Dark Muse, an ethereal/experimental/minimalist artist really good to chill too.

E: Evanescence - Her vocals are powerful, but not overpowering, and the music is heavy, but not quite metal. Great combination, and I just can't help but really like them.

F: Falling You - Another ethereal, relaxing band, Falling You is a little more melodic and ambient than Basque and Dark Muse, but in the same vein.

G: Grant Lee Buffalo - I don't have many "G" artists in my music library, but Grant Lee Buffalo remains a good choice of music even after 10 or so years since release. …
