My 30 Favorite Albums of the Decade
4 fév. 2010, 4h12m par dukeoftaco
30) Grandaddy – The Sophtware Slump (2000)
In short, this is a concept album about a suicidal humanoid robot named Jed. Blissed out electronics and fuzzy guitars clash with Jason Lytle’s high, vulnerable singing voice in an album-long juxtaposition of nature versus machine. Sure, Radiohead and The Flaming Lips often tackle the same topic, but neither do it as beautifully as Grandaddy.
29) Daft Punk – Discovery (2001)
I tried hard not to like these guys. Cheesy French dance music that became one of the hipster darlings of the decade. Well it turns out that dance music is at it’s best when at least a little cheesy, and these French guys know how to break it down. Yo Kanye, I’m really happy for you and Imma let you finish, but Daft Punk made the best version of “
Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” of all time!
28) Extra Golden – OK-Oyot System (2006)
It’s a tough case to sell an album as one of the decade’s greatest for just one track… -

solipsistic NATION No. 151: Sonidos
25 jui. 2009, 20h37m par solipsisticast
http://solipsisticnation.com/images/photo-sonidos-M.jpg
Today's show is a mix that would ideally be played on a sexy and sultry summer night with the object of your desire on one hand and a mojito in the other. With any luck you're doing just that even while today's show plays.
One group I'm excited to play on this week's solipsistic NATION is Sidestepper. Sidestepper is a Colombian band with English DJ/producer Richard Blair and Colombian producer/songwriter Ivan Benavides at the core. Sidestepper combines popular Afro-Colombian music styles like salsa and cumbia with electronica.
Another gem is Quantic Soul Orchestra's "Tropidelico." Will Holland (AKA Quantic), a DJ and musician, is the man behind the Quantic Soul Orchestra, which is a live band project with a changing lineup from album to album. Will has explored different genres of music in the past but the direction he's taken his album, Tropidelico , is very exciting.

Blockhead's Upcoming Album
30 mars 2007, 18h46m par austincurtis
Uncle Tony's Coloring Book should have been out by now, but it's not yet. Thats cool though because for this, we can wait a couple extra months...
According to his myspace page it was going to be out by spring, but now it sounds like it won't be out for another few months... which by my calculations is summer time.
Lets just pray that it doesn't turn into a Window's Vista release (oh, its coming in the new year, no wait, in the spring, no in the summer - oh wait, no - 3 years from now)
If you're into Blockhead as much as I am, you are highly anticipating this release. Check out some of his tracks on his myspace .
Put Down Your Dream is the only track up right now to demo his upcoming album. It's decent, but I think we can expect a lot more from him in the next few months. I'm definitely excited.
My prediction is that he will stick to his patterns and retain the same sort of feel - his "old ASR-10" sampling .99 cent records... … -

Things that are Square KUCI Playlist for 3/8/07
9 mars 2007, 5h53m par Wormwood37
Hey scrobblers,
I’m sorry, that but that term really sounds like a sex act. That’s just my opinion.
I HAD MY FIRST FULL SHOW IN THREE MONTHS TONIGHT! I am so stoked on life. I played a bunch of new stuff, shared some old favorites, made some friends, learned a moral, and we all walked away a better person. It was basically an episode of “Life Goes On”. Do you remember that show? Probably not.
