1.How did you get into 29? (Air)
I guess it was when Sexy Boy & Kelly Watch the Stars got a lot of airplay on MTV in the late 90's.
2. What's the first song you ever heard by 22? (The Radio Dept.)
Not entirely sure, but I vaguely remember seeing them live on a festival in Sweden in 2004, which is probably when I heard their music for the first time. (Mind you, it was at a boozy music festival after all, so it's all a bit of a blur really...)
3. What's your favorite lyric by 33? (José González)
Maybe these ones from Broken Arrow:

4. How did you get into 49? (Björk)
Well, seeing that I'm Scandinavian she was a pretty big deal there with her debut album (called Debut). The first track I heard was Human Behaviour, but I didn't start listening to her stuff properly until the late 90's.

Two (Operation Doomsday & MM Food).

Not really, I wouldn't exactly say Alias is famous for his feelgood-tracks. Maybe Dr.C by Alias & Tarsier.

Violet Hill no doubt. Can't stand it. I never understood how it could be released as a first album single.

Breathe Me, followed by Death By Chocolate.

I remember being on a road trip with my brother and he'd brought 'Selling Live Water' which had recently been released. I had never heard of Sole, but I loved what I heard.

It's a tie between Seasons (Remix) and Don't Leave (When Winter Comes). The beat for the remix of seasons is amazing and fits the lyrcs perfectly.

The Night Before is nice. Bad Man! is a good party tune.

I listened a lot to Burial when I initially moved to London, so maybe that.

Samson was the first song I heard by her, and I absolutely loved it. Still find it amazing. But she's done so many incredible tracks, other favourites are Ode To Divorce and Somedays.

Szczerze powiedziawszy, nigdy nie odważyłbym się wytypować najlepszego albumu CunninLynguists. W końcu każdy z nich (pomijam tu mixtape'y) utrzymany jest we własnym, unikalnym klimacie. Nie mam jednak problemu ze wskazaniem swojej ulubionej płyty składu z Atlanty. Najbardziej upodobałem sobie "A Piece of Strange", czyli zarazem krążek, który - nawiasem mówiąc - poznałem najwcześniej.
Materiał powala przede wszystkim od strony producenckiej. Utrzymany został spójny klimat, choć - równocześnie - nie odbiło się to negatywnie na różnorodności albumu. Z jednej strony znalazły się na nim koncertowe bomby pokroju "Hellfire", z drugiej - znacznie spokojniejsze i poważniejsze "The Gates" bądź "Never Know Why". Nie brakuje też miejsca na "przesłodzone" sample ("Hourglass", "Beatiful Girl") oraz rewelacyjne kawałki instrumentalne z "Remember Me (Abstract Reality)" na czele. Żywsze, bardziej bujające brzmienie wyłapiemy w "Caved In", zaś nagrane wraz z Club Dub "The Light" znakomicie wypada jako kończące płytę, "ostatnie podrygi". Najbardziej do gustu - pod względem producenckim - przypadło mi jednak "Nothing to Give". Swoją drogą, sam nie wiem, co ma w sobie bit z tego utworu, że aż tak mi się spodobał.
"A Piece of Strange" rządzi też lirycznie, choć naturalnie nie padają tu najlepsze bądź najważniejsze linijki w historii rapu. Od strony tekstowej moim zdaniem króluje "The Gates", czyli dialog prowadzony między Deaconem a gościnnie pojawiającym się Tonedeffem. Nie dość, że pokuszono się w tym numerze o kapitalny koncept, to jeszcze poszczególne wersy zapadają w pamięć, dając sporo do myślenia. Świetne jest jeszcze "America Loves Gangsters" - w tym wypadku chyba nie trzeba zbyt wiele tłumaczyć, tytuł mówi sam za siebie.
Trzecie LP w dyskografii CunninLynguists to doprawdy znakomity krążek. Producencko "A Piece of Strange" nie można wiele zarzucić - poszczególne bity z tego wydawnictwa to wręcz prawdziwe perełki, które po prostu wypada znać. Strona liryczna może jest już nieco gorsza, acz nadal fantastyczna. Poszczególne wersy Deacona, Nattiego, a nawet Kno (nawinął zwrotkę w "Brain Cell") oraz zaproszonych gości rzeczywiście trafiają do słuchacza, co moim zdaniem należy traktować jako pewien wyznacznik jakości. Jeśli więc "A Piece of Strange" jeszcze nie znacie, to czas nadrobić powstałe zaległości. -
