(143) Creedence Clearwater Revival - Green River
2 jui. 2009, 15h22m par mwalkway
Alright, so first of all. Everyone loves this band. No, really. I know more people who dislike The Beatles, than people who dislike Creedence Clearwater Revival. Although, they are not flawless, they are good at what they do. And what is it that they do? They create gritty raw rock and roll music.
The songs on this album are all good. Some are very good, others are just good. Bad Moon Rising is a classic,, but is not overplayed as much as classics by other bands. Lodi chronicles the pitfalls of being in a traveling band. The whole this is just a grand old time.
So yeah, get this album. Two thumbs up, etc.

Chronicle, Vol. 1 by Creedence Clearwater Revival
I think if I hadn't heard them so much in my life, CCR would be one of my favorite bands of all time. The problem is, everyone likes them so you end up hearing them everyone. There's no denying they were a great band but the songs I still enjoy of theirs are quickly dwindling. I still like
Have You Ever Seen the Rain,
Lodi,
Green River, and a few others. Just don't play
I Heard It Through The Grapevine,
Proud Mary,
Lookin' Out My Back Door or
Down On The Corner and I'll be ok. -

"things got bad, and things got worse; I guess you know the tune"
22 fév. 2006, 3h50m par MonsterGear
I gave up on the survey. Too much work.
Anyway, sometimes it happens that you rediscover a song that you have taken for granted. This happens on a reasonably steady basis to me. Recently it's been
Lodi, a song that I was previously familiar with but one that never really resonated with me. Lately I've been singling it out, jumping directly to it quite often, and I know I've done this with songs in the past.
Thing is, I can't always understand the 'why' of it. What is it about this song that suddenly hits me? Why does this mournful tune keep me coming back for more? Is it maybe a change in my own outlook that I can't see, or is it just that I never really noticed it before? Both are completely possible. Events could have transpired that, one particular day, put me in a very susceptible mood to that particular song, and now for reasons I cannot explain I seek it out for a comfort. Or, maybe it's just like the way you go past a place a thousand times…
