Orthophony of Metal

orthophony - n. The art of correct articulation; voice training.
Given that many of the bands I like and talk about have names from other languages, I find myself often unsure how to pronounce them. Internet searches usually yield unclear instruction, or the ignorance of, "Just say it like it's spelled." Nothing is quite as good as hearing it for myself.
I decided to search band interviews for good examples, with some success. My findings are listed below. I've been compiling this list for awhile, as I've come across good sources. I try to get it directly from a band member's mouth, if possible. I figure that's the best example available.
I hope that this can be useful to other metal fans who care about this sort of thing… potentially a group effort. If you can contribute, post below. Include an approximate time reference if you're posting a video link. I suppose requests can be made here to. I already have a list of band names to do at the end.

Animals As Leaders - Animals As Leaders
31 jan. 2011, 15h41m par Bill_Zoidberg

The Definitive Guide to Unorthodox, Unusual and Avant-Garde Extreme Metal
7 avr. 2010, 21h44m par ORalston
Adramelech
Sure, it's Demilich worship, but man, if the world doesn't need more of that! The main difference you'll notice is that A) they're still around (though to their own detriment unfortunately), B) the vocals are much more conventional, though no less effective and entertaining and C) the music is significantly more aggressive and violent sounding. Strange riffs and constant surprises are part and parcel with the Adramelech sound. Although they lost their way after 'Psychostasia' in terms of full-length albums, the reason this band is here instead of the individual album pile, is because of the fantastic EPs 'Seven' and 'The Fall' which are absolute must haves, and can be found coupled with copies of 'Psychostasia'.
Anata
Immensely entertaining and always fascinating, the best thing I've heard about this band is that they always make unique songs which are very diverse yet stick to a certain degree formula to keep things consistent. … -
The reason why I don´t like Black Metal...

BLACK METAL IST KRIEG KVLT KRAP
!!!Tr00ness Alert !!!: Read the whole article before you start a flame war...
Really!
I´m fed up with people that are too sensitive in regard to their favourite music and start to overreact...
Well, I have been listening to Metal for some years now and I can tell you at this point that i like most of its sub-genres with some certain exceptions (Power Metal is pretty gay from my point of view and I don´t consider Nu Metal, Metalcore or that other bunge of "-core" garbage as real Metal).
I enjoy Thrash Metal and Death Metal, especially old school death metal and the more progressive / technical side of Death Metal, the most. Just in case if you´re interested, I think this represents my musical taste very well.
Though I like this kind of extreme music, I can honestly say that I never really got into Black Metal.
I haven´t heard any good Black Metal metal which has blown me away or where I thought "Oh my God, this shit is fuckin´ amazing. … -

THE BLUE WALL: Progressive Metal
17 déc. 2008, 1h23m par maidenhell
Progressive Radio
History of Progressive Metal
This is perhaps the most confusing of the sub-genres as it encompasses so many different styles...Progressive metal (sometimes shortened to prog metal) is a fusion genre; a mixture of progressive rock and heavy metal. Progressive metal blends the powerful, guitar-driven sound of metal with the complex compositional structures, odd time signatures, and intricate instrumental playing of progressive rock. Some progressive metal bands are also influenced by jazz fusion and classical music. Like progressive rock songs, progressive metal songs are usually much longer than standard metal songs, and they are often thematically linked in concept albums. As a result, progressive metal is rarely heard on mainstream radio and video programs.

An year scrobbling. yay.
31 oct. 2007, 23h07m par pnh1088
Well I've never written a blog entry here and as I've been here for an year I guess I'll make some stuff about my Top Whatever.
I have to thank Last.fm for most of the bands I discovered the last year an I might also have to blame it for my hate to a lot of stuff I used to like.
Most of the bands on my top 50 are not where they should be. The reason for this is that I have been living away from home and I didn't install the scrobbler on my other computer until the end of September. Yeah, I'm THAT stupid.
There goes the list:
1. Isis: I found this band looking for info about Deftones' Saturday Night Wrist. I had read about them on toolband.com but I didn't know what kind of band they were. Then I read that their new album came out the same day as SNW, and I decided to check it out. I created my Last.fm account the same week I discovered this band and it's still my favourite one, though I don't listen to it a lot. There are too many clones out there. …
