Cropping Artist Images for the Library
24 août 2009, 12h24m par fmera
Following up on the earlier journal, Getting Artist Images to Look Their Best, here is a short guide to explain how images (be they square, tall, or wide) that you upload to artist galleries are cropped for eventual use in the library.
I'll use these images (taken from Simone Kopmajer's gallery) as a visual guide to show how your original artist pics will end up looking as library images. It works on the idea that cropping images square or tall - if your original shots allow this - really is the safer option, as they minimize further cropping when your images are processed. Shown below are three sample images, in square, tall, and wide formats, and beside them the actual 126s images used for the library. The translucent red masking shows where image content will be lost (or hidden from view, rather), and the window is what you'll end up with in the library:

Questionaire 2.0 - top 100
30 avr. 2009, 5h27m par JJMCSPooh
I actually took the top 50 questionaire and just repeated the questions over again. I also went to random.org to mix up the order differently from last time. I did all this cuz I was bored lol.
1. How did you get into 100? [Elton John] Through The Lion King, which is my favorite film of all time!
2. What was the first song you ever heard by 99? [Miriam Makeba] "Amampondo" because that's the first track on Welela.
3. What's your favorite lyric by 17? [LL Cool J] "Forget Oreos, eat Cool J cookies!" followed closely by "I'll crush you like a jellybean." Basically "I'm Bad" contains my favorite lyrics from him.
4. How did you get into 90? [Mya] Saw her on TV. By the time I saw "Fallen," I had the hugest crush on her!
5. How many albums by 77 do you own? [Soul For Real] 1.
6. What is your favorite song by 49? [Billy Joel] Other than "Why Should I Worry" from Oliver & Company (I'm a Disney fanatic if you can't tell lol), "River of Dreams."

Average age of the top 100 artists I listen to...
7 sept. 2008, 6h26m par JJMCSPooh
Well, I omitted groups (any act that contains more than one person such as TLC), so it may not be accurate. Oh, and artists that appear twice (such as Shanice and Shanice Wilson) will only be counted once. With those things out of the way, it comes down to these 66 artists...

Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis
31 mars 2008, 11h36m par ted1986
I just have to write an article about these two gems of the R&B/Soul community!
Ever since I broke away from the mainstream pop music of the 80s and got into listening to R&B music, there's been a certain sound I have loved and I didn't know how to put my finger on it. I particularly enjoyed listening to Alexander O'Neal and The S.O.S. Band and they definately had a very similar sound and feel to their music along with Cherrelle, Janet Jackson, New Edition and the song Human by The Human League. For ages I couldn't work out what made them all so similar (similar as they all had a stunning strong sound) when I had the fortune of stumbling accross this wikipedia article on Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. From then on, I realised that all the above artists's producers were Jam & Lewis and I went on to discover many more great hits they produced and I purchased Alexander O'Neal's classic album Hearsay with fabolous hits like Criticise,
Never Knew Love Like This,
Hearsay, and
Fake amongst many others.
