I'll just come right out and admit I'm not majorly in love with Lykke Li. That said, I do like all of the music I hear by her, so I wanted to see if her live performance would change my mind on her. It did not. She's not a bad performer or anything, but she just doesn't grab me. Nonetheless, this was a good show, and I got a really sweet tote. I love a good tote.
I came in during the opener, Maipei. She is fine. There's nothing terrible about her music, but there's nothing exceptional either. She was pleasant to listen to, but I won't be searching her out or anything.
29 sept. 2014, 18h48m par fm014Hi,
oh, what a week. Two goodbye gatherings in two days. :/ And one of them let me go to the local “youth alternative center”, where they had a lot of house music. :P
Anyway, this week already looks like a busy one as well.
Last week in covers:
> Michael Nyman : film score alert. Tbh I was looking for tunes I could play while reading sports news on the radio… but “The Piano” isn’t the right kind of soundtrack for that.
> David Bowie : I came across the Greatest Hits album of David Bowie and I was disappointed that “Hallo Spaceboy” was missing. Then I found out that the remix version featuring the Pet Shop Boys wasn’t even an album track. :/ Anyway, that song is amazing. :)
> Genesis : nostaligia alert. Oh, if you ask me about one of the best things of the 1990s in music, I’d say Genesis’ album “We Can’t Dance”. Progressive rock meets mainstream pop. So good.

The Soft Boys - "Queen of Eyes" (1980)
I can't tell you how many times I've heard that jangling guitar introduction and thought it was one song, only to get the other — but I love both, so you can't really go wrong.
