Bill Callahan (né en 1966 à Silver Spring dans le Maryland), connu aussi sous les noms de Smog ou (Smog), est un chanteur et compositeur pop américain. Il a commencé à produire des cassettes et disques de lo-fi ou d’alt-country avant de sortir des albums avec un son plus professionnel sur le label Drag City. Il a une voix grave très caractéristique et des airs et des textes empreints d’une grande mélancolie.
Sa première cassette Macramé Gunplay est sortie en 1988, son dernier album, Woke On A Whaleheart, en avril 2007.

haha, bill callahan's voice for a GPS device. that is the most awesome idea ever.. i wonder why 'sometimes i wish i were an eagle' isn't listed under albums. i've listening to it for the first time, it's ok. not as good as woke on a whale heart so far.. however i'm only half through the thing.
