Okay, so keystothecity and I were chatting at work today about the Southbank Meltdown festival, and who we would invite to perform if it was up to us. I'm assuming it goes on for 2 weeks, so that's 14 acts. Here's my dream line-up.

Julee Cruise and Angelo Badalamenti performing those two amazing albums they produced, turning the Southbank into Twin Peaks for the night.

Altered Images, I'd definitely get them to reform to perform some of my all time favourite pop songs.

I'd love to get the Pet Shop Boys and The Magnetic Fieldsto perform an evening of Stephen Sondheim songs with an army of guest vocalists and west end Wendys.

It's be super to get Kraftwerk to perform, but if they couldn't make it, maybe the Balanescu Quartet could perform their rather brilliant string quartet versions of those electro classics.

I'd love to see The Art of Noise perform Close to the Edit live. And imagine seeing Malcom McClaren with them, performing Madame Butterfly and Double Dutch. Amazing!

Luke Haines needs to be there with Black Box Recorder or The Auteurs, maybe both, I'm not fussy.

Imagine how great it would be to get some new wave stars out of retirement. I'm seeing an amazing double bill of Lene Lovich and Propaganda.

I want Richard X and Annie there, maybe with Kelis and Deborah Evans-Strickland from the Flying Lizards for some jerky electropop.

And we need The Beastie Boys to perform Hey Ladies and Body Movin'. Imagine that in the Festival Hall.

I think an all-star cast needs to sing the Kate Bush songbook, though I may need some suggestions as to who would do it best. I'm thinking Kathryn Williams and Mary Coughlan for starters.

Saint Etienne, those patron Saints of the Festival Hall, need to perform. I might confine them to a synths only nights, so they do all my faves like Lightning Strikes Twice, Heart Failed In the Back of a Taxi and B92.

There's no way it could happen without Laurie Anderson adding a bit of minimalist genius to the proceedings.

Le Tigre vs The Gossip, now that'd be fun!

And I know Morrissey had them at his Meltdown, but Sparks are such genius live, and I'd get them to perform all of Lil Beethoven, my favourite album of theirs.

I think that's it. I'd love it. It's maybe lacking a bit of noisy geetar action, some spoken word, but maybe in the foyer there's room for that.

Bloody hell, I'm knackered. Right, keystothecity, do your worst! Who's at your Meltdown, huh? Less electronic handclaps and orchestra hits, more banjos and viols I'm guessing...

Another one that could've beaten the Duracel bunny hands-down.

So, I was just walking across the street to get myself a cup of coffee, and the iPod shuffled up Still With Me from the Balanescu Quartet. Something about the slightly gloomy overcast weather combined with the music suddenly took me back to the summer of 1996 when I got to see the Balanescu Quartet play in a small tent next to the river in Kassel, Germany. IIRC, it was part of an arts festival going on that summer in Kassel. Anyway, it was a wonderful show, one of my highlights from my time in Germany.

I love when music does that little time machine thing to my brain.

01.Do you prefer #1 or #40?
Tough decision, but I guess I'll go with the poetic imagery, pain and self-destruction in deconstructing hip-hop in # 40.

02. Have you ever listened to #12 continuously on repeat?
No, but I did listen to the Django Rheinhardt version for quite some time. Then there's the Mr Scruff potpourri, quite a smashin' piece.

03. What album is #26 from?
Louis and the Goodbook, only the greatest King Louie album ever to tickle my ears.

04. What do you think about the artist who did #15?
This is her only solo song I know, but I know her work with the Chemical Brothers and I absolutely adore it, plus I find this song quite amazing.

05. Is #19 one of your favorite songs?
Nope, it's one of his songs I don't like all that much.

06. Who does #38 remind you of?
A friend who is so keen on Radiohead, he would give his left lung to go to a concert.

07. Does #20 have better lyrics or music?
Music, makes me all jumpy, happy and, eventually, I start looking like a whirlpool.

08. Do any of your friends like #3?
Well, yeah quite a few actually.

09. Is #33 from a movie soundtrack?
Nope, they're quite obscure. But # 31 and #37 are.

10. Is #18 overplayed on the radio?
It was a couple of years ago.

11. What does #21 remind you of?
My senior year in college on the Djs spot for the break music, also one of my deskmates.

12. Which song do you prefer, #5 or #22?
I'm not really keen on #22, it's music I work to, so it has to be #5, for Sigur Ros were my soundtrack to many a day.

Trainspotting Soundtrack 1.

14. When did you first hear #39?
On TV, a long time ago.

15. When did you first hear #7?
When I first listened to a whole Dandy Warhols album, at a friend's.

16. What genre is #8?
Baroque music.

17. Do any of your friends like #14?
One does for sure, and I'm absolutely over the top with it.

18. What color does #4 remind you of?
Gaudy red.

19. Have you ever blasted #11 on your stereo?
No, but I drove my friends crazy with this particular lo-fi band.

20. What genre is #37?
I'll go with early indie/ pop/rock.

21. Can you play #13 on any instrument?
Nope. But I used to be able to play Melc-Melc-Codobelc on the guitar and Blowin' in the Wind on the blockflote.

Whatever mirrah said. Can't wait to take pictures.

Nope. But her new [commercial, lamer] album has been making quite a fuss.Ugh.

27. Is #32 more of a "nighttime" or "daytime" song?
Well it says "when the music's over, turn out the lights...", that could only make you arrive to the conclusion that it's....... [fill in the blanks].

28. Does #36 have any special meaning to you?
It reminds me of a past relationship that tore me to pieces.

29. Do any of your friends like #31?
What's this with my friends liking it? How abt meself? My cat? Well, my cat is nuts abt it, doing some weird cat-and-mouse waltz to it.

30. Is #25 a fast or slow song?
Fast, but with a slow meaning and amazing lyrics if you pay attention.

31. Is #35 a happy or sad song?
Well, it's the "best let's-get-it-on song ever written", mutually agreed on by me and a really good friend. But it's got the unattainable Cohen sad,smug,end of the world vibe.

32. What is one of your favorite lyrics from #9?

This song kills and brings about the worst trips ever.

33. Is #34 better to listen to alone or with friends?
Both. Still depressing.

Errr...when I was 3 or so... But didn't get to completely adore it until I turned 12-13, understood it completely at 14.
