Antimatter est un groupe formé par Duncan Patterson (ancien membre du groupe Anathema) et Mick Moss. Ensemble, ils sortent trois albums : Saviour, Lights Out et Planetary Confinement. Juste après la sortie de ce dernier, Patterson quitte le groupe pour un projet solo, Íon. Moss, alors seul maître à bord, sort le quatrième album d’Antimatter, Leaving Eden.

Les deux premiers albums d’Antimatter, Saviour et Lights Out, sont un mélange de mélodies vocales féminines et de sombres parties électroniques, formant une sorte de « dark wave » entre gothique et trip-hop. L’album suivant, Planetary Confinement, se démarque par un son plus acoustique et épuré. Leaving Eden, le dernier album en date composé par le seul Mick Moss, abandonne encore un peu plus le côté électronique des premiers albums et donne aux guitares électriques une place bien plus importante.

I don't know if he still does it, but I saw Mick "applying some substance" just before the gig started - he took a bowl and a spoon on stage and ate what seemed to be a honey before he started singing. I talked to him afterwards but forgot to ask what it was. Does anyone have an idea? Perhaps that's the secret of that mighty voice ;o)
