Anathema est à l’origine un groupe de doom-death britannique formé à la fin des années 80 à Liverpool par les frères Cavanagh, Danny et Vincent. À partir du milieu des années 90 et l’album Eternity (1996), le groupe abandonne les voix gutturales et évolue vers une musique plus atmosphérique, jusqu’à l’apparition de l’électronique dans ses dernières compositions.
Depuis 2004, Anathema traverse une période d’incertitude, notamment suite à la disparition de leur maison de disque, le label britannique indépendant Music for Nations. Même si le groupe a multiplié les concerts et s’est produit à l’étranger et en Grande-Bretagne, il s’est semble-t-il interrogé sur l’opportunité de créer son propre label, à l’image de ce qu’a choisi un ancien membre, Duncan Patterson.

Great band! I like almost all their songs, especially those from The Silent Enigma and Eternity (Far away, A dying wish, Black orchid, Angelica, Hope). Why aren't this songs in the top, btw? )
