    Black Gives Way to Blue

    Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.
I was surprised to see how awesome this CD was after the loss of Layne Staley. He is incomparable, however William DuVall managed to do some great vocals, while keeping the original 'sound' of AIC. You'd think some songs were even sung by Staley himself!
Music wise, most songs are very good. My personal favourites would be Private Hell and Check My Brain. Great sound, great vocals, original AIC style.

Lyrics wise, most songs are definitely written about Staley and their loss. But as Stayley said before and I think it really does represent all the songs of AIC: "The songs are about things that we were thinking and we wrote 'em down, and when you listen to 'em, whatever you think it's about... THAT'S what it's about!"

    I'd give it a well deserved 8/10.
Great listen, you guys should check it out if you haven't already!
  • Mis discos de la década.

    25 oct.

    1. Muse - Origin of Symmetry

  • All About The Benjamins...

    16 oct. 2009, 19h37m par STONECOLLAR

So a couple of weeks ago I wrote about the imminent arrival of the new albums from bands Breaking Benjamin and Alice in Chains

Well I aint got much else to do… so here it goes with a little catch-up of what I thought.

So straight off the bat… the pick of the two goes to Alice in Chains. I must say tho that after the first listen of both I just thought ‘Ok its decent…’, but the difference was that AIC’s comment was thought with more enthusiasm, than that of BB’s.

Not that there’s anything wrong with Dear Agony by BB, its just that its very much the exact same album as that of Phobia. I would almost assume that it was written at the same time, and kept on the back-burner for the next album (like Metallica’s Load and Reload albums), although I know this is not the case… I’m just merely stating that there is no growth wrt and style. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing… especially if you happen to love the previous album and would love to hear more of it. …
