Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first two lines from the first 50 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 3: Bold out the songs when someone guesses both artist and track correctly.
Step 4: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!
Step 5: If you like the game post your own!

...and here we is, in Texas yet."
It's a shameful truth that I've lived in Texas for more than a dozen years and never been west of Mineral Wells (and Possum Kingdom State Park -- LOVE the name of that park).
Next month, that's going to change. A friend and I are driving from Dallas down to Big Bend National Park. That's a lot of driving. We're going to need music. A whole lot of music.
I'm assembling a road-trip playlist of artist who were either born in Texas or make/made their base here. My research has boggled my mind. Even without counting the music powerhouse Austin has become (which I do), this state has produced a staggering amount of talent
Right now, it's 62 artists long, with another 18 in my iTunes shopping cart, waiting for me to commit and pony up.
This is where you come in.
Who are your favorite Texas artists? If I've missed a shining star of the Texas pantheon, set me straight. I promise to give any suggestions a fair audition, even if I ultimately choose not to include them in my final picks. … -
Beyond Name-Checking

Maybe I need to allow more time for the last.fm software to calibrate... or maybe I just cannot be calibrated. Time will tell.
But I went surfing around to see what everyone else is into, and found the same patterns I have seen my whole life. People trying to force themselves into some kind of brand; people defiant about their tastes; people trying too hard NOT to fit into any particular box. Like pop music, it´s amazing how much variety can be derived from the same three chords.
But I like this new toy, and I´m curious to see what, if anything, it will say about me. So far, because I just let it go on shuffle, and it saw a lot of Dream Theater, it scrobbled me into that neighborhood; Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Metallica, etc.
Okay, so I tinkered with my music library a bit. Played some stuff by Iron & Wine I´ve been into lately. Wondered how Matthew Sweet got into my Top Ten... ah, so much for ¨shuffle¨. Still, he wouldn´t show up if I didn´t like at least some of his tunes.

Carissimi compatrioti,
