Oh, it seems I've already shouted on this one, and it says " My favourite song on the album, tied with "Mary Jane"". - Hmm, I'm not sure I can still say exactly this. I might need to think about it. It probably is my favourite on the album still, but the last year or so I've really gotten into Hand In My Pocket and You Learn and might consider them my next favourites. Then again, Mary Jane is a beautiful song! I'm rambling, excuse me... :P

We're all responsible for ourselves, and isn't that what this song is about? In the same way, I don't want to be a father figure just because I'm older than a young person. What would be the point? This is the 21st Century...please stop trying to send us back to 1955 or before.

I currently have 4 songs from Jagged Little Pill in my library, but, I won't be adding this to it. Jagged Little Pill is still one of the best albums of all time though, considering what other great tracks are on it.

@alicefairyberry Just because you "grew up" doesn't mean that the song should suddenly disappear and that it doesn't hold meaning for others even today. lol

I've always wondered what 'the empty bottle with the holes along the bottom' refers to? Any ideas? Is it just a metaphor for emotions being sucked dry?

Well I still think it's pretty feminist-lite music. And I don't think there's anything wrong with being there for someone when times are hard, especially when you're supposed to be a partnership. My girlfriend and I have no problem being each other's doctors. And at the same time there's nothing wrong with being romantic and dreamy. It's possible to be both that and grounded. Life is complicated, you know. My point is, I'm sick of this song and it's long since lost it's usefulness/meaning to me.

@alicefairyberry: I don't think this is about being angry, but ultimately a song about not being ridiculously romantic and dreamy and knowing that at the end of the day "one and one make two", which is something I learned when I grew up. =)

Fucking awesome song <333 @alicefairyberry: If you've grown up, how about you stop talking such childish bullshit... Like there was anything wrong about feeling differently about love than you do.

I've dated many a man who fits this song. Luckily as I got older, I became wiser and started making better dating choices.

Aww poor wittle shortsighted Alanis, is she a wittle love-phobic? God forbid you should ever need someone else! I used to listen to this shit when I was a wannabe angry feminist, but then I grew up...
