Fri 8 Feb – skaters, Emeralds, Lambsbread, C. Spencer Yeh, Binges, animal law
A lot of bands on this bill. Emeralds unfortunately had to drop off the bill so Axolotl jumped on, he was supposed to be joined by Nate from Mouthus and Afternoon Penis but alas...
So Binges revved up the night doing what sounded like two numbers. Very spacey, bleeping skronk I half paid attention to
Oddly enough they were followed up by Animal Law who threw a heavy weight (anvil?) into the mix bringing their gritty doom(ish) hate to the fold. Have to admit it was a formidable set (and they maybe could have cut a number), that felt like a sack of ciner blocks. You could tell the hippy-noiseniks were looking for their iPODs, bowls and exits. Nice to have a lumbering behemoth sway in - pass the qualudes.
They were followed by C. Spencer Yeh sans any pedals going raw into the board with his violin. Performing two diverse numbers of fast scraping bow work. Nice to hear it so stripped down. Funny how lush it came out in the end.
