Actually I often find Maynard relieving his "front man" status for someone else. I've been to a few APC shows and plenty of Tool's gigs and he often is tucked in a corner or behind another band member. He and his bands are well known for acknowledging that the music is whats important, not their individual fame. Howerdel leads the band in promos and gigs more than one might think.
