Entre Aphex Twin, Roni Size et Mogwai, les Anglais de 65daysofstatic n’ont pas choisi leur camp. Guitares saturées, drum’n bass affolée, electro frénétique, l’expérience sensorielle unique ne laisse personne indemne.
Nés à Sheffield, ils ont recyclé les ruines de l’ancienne gloire industrielle pour en faire un magma sonique flirtant avec le chaos. dans des abysses sonores est encore plus frappante.
Fondé en 2001 sous la forme d’un trio, alors constitué de Joe Shrewsbury, Paul Wolinski, et de Iain Armstrong, le groupe 65daysofstatic tirerait son nom du fait qu’il ait été amené à composer à ses débuts la bande sonore du film « Stealth Bomber » de John Carpenter mettant en vedette Kurt Russell. La sortie du film en salles fut retardée de 65 jours à cause d’une erreur de logistique.
La formation du groupe a beaucoup changé depuis sa création en 2001. Armstrong a quitté le groupe en 2003 pour former un autre groupe, Actionier. Feedle rejoint 65daysofstatic pour une courte période, et l’aide à écrire son premier single, Retreat! Retreat!. Fin 2003, le groupe recrute Rob Jones en tant que batteur et Gareth Hugues à la basse. Le groupe se compose maintenant de 4 membres. Gareth Hugues quitte le groupe au moment de la sortie de son premier album, The Fall of Math, laissant la place de bassiste à Simon Wright. Des membres d’autres groupes, en particulier The Mirimar Disaster ou Youthmovies, les ont en outre souvent accompagnés lors de différents concerts.
