Et me voilà comme un vieux con, à bricoler un Top albums pour une seconde fois. On m’y reprendra, pour sûr. Exercice forcé, exploratoire… et jubilatoire finalement. Cette année, je n’aurais jamais passé autant de temps à décortiquer les musiques, fouiller dans de vieux bacs usés ou sur internet et tenter, tant bien que mal, de rassasier un peu cette boulimie curieuse et enchanteresse.

Un top, ce pourrait être l’occasion de reprendre un peu de hauteur et échapper à la crue. Réécouter, disait-on avant, ces classiques. Réécouter, sur-écouter, additionner et perdre, sans doute, le fil. Déjà, réécouter, mais que s’est il passé pour que nous finissions amnésiques de la sorte? S’octroyer un 7ème, inventer un 8ème jour à nos semaines musicales. Bonne idée. Pour laisser reposer. Revenir.

Als je voor je debuut grootmeester Jay Pellicci (van 31knots) kan strikken, dan kan het niet anders dan dat je math-rockgewijs bij de betere bent. Het Luikse Frank Shinobi - dat net als Foxes In Boxes en Casse Brique ook onderdak vindt bij Honest House – bewijst vanaf 'Les évadés du Zoulkistan' dat hun 'A Little Less More' nergens moet onderdoen voor 31Knots, Valina of Karate. Hun combinatie van complexe ritmes en dissonante melodieën is volgens de regels authentieke math-rock. Originaliteit is in dit genre een moeilijke oefening maar daar lijkt Frank Shinobi geen problemen mee te hebben.
