I started working on this video like 5 months ago. Halfway through the project I just kinda got frustrated by my own lack of video editing abilities and gave up. But then I woke one morning with the 311 song Six in my head, specifically the voice of SA Martinez singing "Like the warrior souls we are, we never give in" and I took it as a sign from the universe to keep going. Has any of this made sense? Probably not. Anyway, it all worked out in the end.

A while back I decided to remove the 311 track Summer of Love from my library. I had scrobbled it over 12k times. I literally had it on almost 24 hours a day from June to August of 2009. Still, I decided after a while that the point of last.fm is to basically track the music you are actually listening to. That might sound funny since you could say "You were listening to it nonstop!" While that's sort of true, the fact is that type of behavior isn't really listening at all. It's just keeping it on as background noise. In order to really listen to music—I mean, really and properly listen—you have to savor it. It becomes its own organic experience; a ritual of sorts. To give credit where due, Zach216 was the first to really point this out to me. The other thing that was kind of off putting is my average tracks per day stat was like 185 or something ridiculous. Not that its really a big deal one way or the other, I just find it an inaccurate representation of what is actually going on in my musical world.
