@Hiko_Seijuro - Actually, in English at least, the term "fan service" has moved on to refer to "intertexual references" as well (that is, references to previous media: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_service). It is not crazy to say the "Nagareboshi to Koi no Ame" is fan-servicey: only previous fans are going to recognize the references in the lyrics. Frequently terms borrowed from Japanese lose their original meaning in English (such as otaku being kind of bad in Japanese, but it is used as the word to describe fans of Japanese anime and manga in English). I may be using the term "fan service" incorrectly if we were conversing in Japanese, but since we are not, my usage of the term is correct as it reflects the growth that the term has in English.
don't know why i didn't pay more attention to his music when i first started listening to him...i really enjoyed his Gold Skool album so i decided to check out his older albums and i loved them. he is one of the rare male japanese singers i like that sings the genres i listen to, which is awesome. quite surprised how he doesn't have more plays though =S
