Bass is shit.

MAN I'M SO FUCKING SICK OF SEEING AND HEARING THE SAME THING EVERYWHERE!!!!

I'm a proud bass player, but it ticks me off a lot on how an extremely large amount people have no appreciation for the instrument and think it's a pointless addition to a band. But the truth is, no matter how awesome riff is the guitar player is doing, nothing gets you moving to a beat like a steady bass. Has anyone else had an experience where your instrument was not appreciated and left in the dark? How did it make you feel? It just isn’t right. Bass has been pushed to the shoulder and made to seem inferior. I get easily pissed off when people say things like (see above). Guitar is just higher pitched so it's usually the first thing you hear along with vocals. People don’t understand that bass is the backbone and provides more depth to the sound.

The people you have been talking to are so full of bullshit it's not even funny..
1: I have seen jazz musicians create solo songs with only a bass.
2: Only people with untrained ears can't hear bass so it's mostly their problem.
3: Being a bassist takes a crap load of stamina it's not even funny especially when you want to get into bass solo's and stuff... I can't tell you how many times my hands have gotten covered in blood by just playing for more then 2 hours trying to come up with a solo.
3: There is a very good reason why we don't go around smashing our guitars... ITS BECAUSE WE CAN BREAK THE FUCKING GROUND! Do you know how solid a bass guitar is? Compared to a normal guitar? For Christ sakes you could cleave someones head off!
4: As for people not respecting my opinion I have ran into someone like that let's just say i use his front teeth as my pick!
5: easily replaced member? Ha! Tell that to Metallica after cliff died the band pretty much went to shit. ((Also RIP Cliff didn't mean to offend))
6: Low pitched sound... Well it is true bassist do, do it deeper then guitarists..
7: Why not buy a guitar? Because I'm not a pansy.

I hope I gave you some courage I have ran into my fair share of idiots down the road just gotta be tough.

The only people who disrespect bass are people who clearly have never been hit by one. FACT.
